Conclusion:

The Dell Studio XPS 16 had it's shortcomings when it came to it's portability but outside of that it's a solid XPS laptop from Dell. I can definetly recommend this laptop for those that are looking for a great entertainment notebook that can do some light gaming as well as play Blu-Ray HD movies.

This Dell laptop has a starting price of around $999 but even at that price you get one heck of a laptop. Of course though with additions you can have an even more powerful laptop.

Pros:

When your buying a Dell Studio XPS laptop your spending more than for an average Dell laptop. With the Studio XP features excellent build quality and a nice keyboard. Also thanks to the Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of memory the Studio XPS 16 performs solidly, if you have the configuration we had.

If your going to be watching movies or television shows in High Definition in 1080p resolution the display on the Studio XPS 16 won't let you down. It gives you excellent accurate color and contrast. Also the port selection on the Studio XPS is  worth noting it boosts all the major ports usb, esata, firewire, hdmi etc.

Cons:

Be warned that even though the screen offers you great picture quality it does have a glossy protective layer that gives off glare if there is to much light. The laptop also gets pretty hot, the discrete graphics and processor on our test system didn't help either.

Like it's to be expected the battery life is okay but it's not the best, you should expect to get around 2 hours and 50 minutes with a 9-cell battery and a little under 2 with the 6-cell. Like with lots of computers from Dell or any big name company the added programs are a nuisance.
