BUDGET LAPTOP GUIDE
Low Cost Doesn't Have To Equal Low Quality

These days money might be tight but you still need a new computer. That is where the category of budget laptops comes to your rescue. These computers include dual-core processors and on average 15.4" widescreens with prices starting at $349.99. However if you can spend between $499 and $599 you can get a really nice set up.

Budget laptops are great for people who usually use computers for e-mail, internet browsing, basic multi-media i.e. movies and music so basically basic uses. This level of computers is great at all the things previously mentioned. All the laptop manufacturers offer budget computers as well so you can shop a certain brand if you want.
Budget Laptop Specifications Check-list

Dual Core CPU - This comes standard on most but not every single budget notebook. So you should look through the specifications and make sure it's a dual-core laptop. Preferably Intel Core 2 Duo if it's possible but Core i3 processors are starting to work their way into budget laptops to replace Core 2 Duo.

3GB+ of Memory(RAM) - Finding a laptop under $500 that offers you 3GB or more of memory isn't that hard so make sure to look. The more memory your computer has the easier it will be to run multiple application at once.

Wi-Fi  that supports 802.11n - All laptops already come with built-in Wi-Fi b and g support but n is much faster and is soon going to be the standard. The increased speed from an n connection will make streaming HD video files a lot more enjoyable.

Memory Card Reader - Computer manufacturers are starting to just include this feature due to the popularity of digital cameras and SD memory cards. However it's still good to make sure yours has it in case you want to use it with your digital camera.

Optional Budget Laptop Specifications

Small screens 13"-14" - Using a smaller screen usually means your laptop will weigh less and be easier to carry around. If your planning on carrying your new laptop around this is something to consider. Also don't be afraid to go into a computer store and see how it feels before buying.

HDMI connectivity - Some of you might have a HD television or computer monitor you'd like to maybe use with your new laptop well to do it properly you'll need a laptop that offers HDMI-out. Luckily all the major laptop manufacturers already offer this option. Before you'd have to use various adaptors or add it on yourself.
